The Belfast Area Watershed Group Fund has been established to support the work of the Belfast Watershed Group.
Your donation will enable us to accomplish our mission of nurturing nature for the benefit of residents, along with our wildlife and aquatic communities. You truly make the difference for us, and we are extremely grateful!
Belfast Area Watershed Group (BAWG) was founded in 2017 as an incorporated non-profit organization. We operate to protect, maintain, and enhance the area’s ecology for the residents’ environmental, social, and economic well-being. Through collaboration and partnerships with other groups, volunteers and members, industry, and various levels of government, BAWG’s activities include:
- Habitat restoration and conservation (terrestrial and aquatic).
- Scientific research and monitoring.
- Improving and protecting both surface water and groundwater within our coverage areas
- Enhancing public understanding of watersheds
- Protect and enhance the health of bays and estuaries
- Protect and enhance freshwater ecosystems
- Improve agricultural practices to minimize negative impacts on the environment
- Enhancing forest management
- Enhancement of recreational opportunities and promotion of active living
- Community outreach and environmental education programs for all ages.
