A traditional endowment or legacy fund – managed for impact that will last forever. (An endowment is a fund established with donated assets that are invested to offer long-term support for a specific charitable organization or cause. Each year, a portion of the fund is distributed to support charitable activities, while the remaining assets stay invested to ensure growth over time. Endowment funds can be tailored to align with a donor’s charitable goals. Our traditional endowments are managed for impact that will last forever.)

A spend-down fund – these funds function similarly to the endowment as described above, but they are managed for impact that will last a specific period (i.e. 5, 10, or 20 years). Spend-down funds make a great choice for donors who want their donation and impact activated in the community sooner, but want to see the donation last for a while.

An immediate or flow through gift – for donors who want to make an impact right away.

Community Impact Fund: This fund evolves with the ever-changing needs of our community and provides the Foundation the flexibility to disburse grants to the widest possible range of initiatives based on the 8 key themes that reflect diverse and evolving priorities of our communities: Arts, Culture & Recreation, Health & Well-Being, Affordability, Housing, Environment, Learning & Education, People & Work & Diversity & Getting Started.

Donor Advised Fund: Fundholders retain the responsibility for making annual grant recommendations in support of the charities, causes, and/or programs of their choice. With this flexible option, you can change your preference from year to year.

Donor Designated Fund: This fund is created to support a specific charity or organization. Donors are required to decide in advance which charity or organization they wish to support.

Field of Interest Fund: Donors identify a charitable cause that is close to their hearts and every year disbursements are allocated to support that cause.

Scholarship or Bursary Fund: Annual disbursements are used to provide scholarships and bursaries to students, typically those pursuing post-secondary learning opportunities.

Agency Fund: This fund is usually created by a charity to support its own work. It provides a stable and sustainable source of core operational revenue for the organization that creates it.
