No. 98 July 2, 2009

Our focus is you

Seldom a day goes by without a request to give to someone's favorite charity. The causes are many and all are legitimate. The canvasser believes in the cause and is prepared to make the case to you as a potential donor.

The Community Foundation of Prince Edward reverses the process; we start with you: you made your money; you should decide the charitable causes that you want to support. We help you devise an appropriate plan. We've helped others, why not let us help you as well?

It's a different approach; it puts you, the donor in the driver's seat. That's why community foundations have grown so fast.

The Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island is one of 160 in Canada today; each focuses on the local community. In our case, it is Prince Edward Island; we aim to improve the quality of life where we live.

And we are getting better at it every day. We.ve helped many individuals, groups and organizations establish a charitable legacy to suit their interests. Our experience includes health, education, social development, heritage and religion . and I cannot think of any charitable cause we cannot service. In fact, we believe that we are more experienced in designing charitable plans than any one

else on the Island - and we have over 40 endowments to prove it.

Increasingly people are talking to us about their legacy decisions; giving this way, opens many tax and estate planning opportunities. Some people set up funds now with a plan to add later; others engage us in the planning process now but are deferring implementation. You should talk with your financial advisor(s), and if you provide a name, we will be happy to talk with them also.

Oh Yes! We are incorporated under the Laws of Prince Edward Island and are registered with the Canada Revenue Agency. In addition, if you happen to be a US citizen, we can offer a receipt acceptable to the US Internal Revenue Service.

Any of our Directors would be happy to talk with you, without obligation:
