Northport and Area Residents
"Put their Hearts into it"

For most of us, learning to save a life wouldn.t qualify as a typical weekend activity. However, 30 residents of the Northport area did just that on Saturday, November 24th, by participating in a free CPR Anytime. event sponsored by the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Prince Edward Island.

In a recent poll, Canadians who haven.t been trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) listed a .lack of time. as the main barrier to learning this lifesaving skill. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada has responded to this concern with their recent launch of CPR Anytime. Family & Friends., a new 22-minute self-directed CPR training course.

"CPR Anytime Family & Friends contains everything you need to learn to recognize and respond to a sudden cardiac
arrest emergency," says Heart and Stroke Foundation CEO, Charlotte Comrie. .By putting their heart into it and taking 22 minutes to learn CPR, the 30 individuals who took part in today.s sessions could save the life of someone close to them.

"We are grateful to the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island for making these free CPR Anytime. sessions possible, through their David A. MacKay Fund, an endowment dedicated to grants toward improving response to cardiac emergencies."

The David A. Mackay Endowment Fund was established by Mr. MacKay.s family and friends in recognition of his many accomplishments, his larger than life character, his love for his family, and his love for Prince Edward Island. The Fund is a permanent endowment administered by the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island. The purpose of the David A. Mackay Endowment Fund is to make grants to improve the cardiac emergency response system on Prince Edward Island.
