FOUNDATION AND LAND TRUST PARTNER IN NEW FUND
CFPEI and the L. M. Montgomery Land Trust are partnering in the
establishment of an endowment for the preservation of scenic coastal
agricultural lands in PEI. The result is the L. M. Montgomery Land Trust
Operating Endowment Fund established for the purpose of making grants
annually towards the operating costs of the Trust.
In making the announcement, CFEI President, John Robinson, welcomed the
establishment of the fund and commended the Trust for its efforts in
preserving PEI as a unique and special little part of the world . a view
shared by Islanders and visitors alike.
The L. M. Montgomery Land Trust Operating Endowment Fund becomes one of a
number of funds within the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island, a
non-profit organization administered by a volunteer board of directors,
which oversees permanent endowments set up by members of the community.
The Foundation is a registered charity and donations are tax deductible in
Canada and the USA
The L. M. Montgomery Land Trust, established in 1994, is a registered
non-profit charity established for the purpose of preserving scenic
coastal agricultural lands from development. The focus of the Trust is on
a scenic stretch of coastline from French river to Seaview, an area of roughly
3,000 acres.
Persons interested in further information about the Fund or wishing to
make a contribution to support the work of the Trust should contact the
Community Foundation at 892-3440.
Seniors. Survey Results Announced
Financial security and the availability of prescription drugs placed one
and two on a senior.s survey of their most pressing concerns. Other
concerns include emergency care, home care/social support services,
ambulance service, physical security/safety, transportation and the
availability of a doctor.
The survey was conducted by the Community Foundation of Prince Edward
Island Island in association with the Canadian Red Cross. The information
will be used by CFPEI as part of its background information when making
grants.
The following respondents were chosen at random and will receive a gift
certificate: Kay Hennessey, Marlene Bryenton, Mrs Charles MacLean, Beth
Stewart, Frenchfort, Anne Barratt, Lillian Carson, Betty Steele, Alberton
Bernadette Hardwick, Phyllis McCabe, Gloria Fullerton, Pauline Millar, Don
MacEachern.
