Imagine Canada

The Globe and Mail of Tuesday, June 13, 2006 carried an insert from Imagine Canada, a national charitable organization delivering research-based products for the charitable sector. In the insert, Imagine Canada reported that:
  • The nonprofit sector, excluding hospitals, colleges and universities, contributed $35 billion to the economy in 2003.
  • The sector represented 7.8 percent of the economy that year.
  • The sector engaged a full-time equivalent work force of 2.07 million employees, 1.5 million being paid.
A sector this large needs to be thought of as an asset
