Grant Application Guidelines
The Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island (CFPEI) is committed to improving the quality of life on Prince Edward Island by granting funds directed toward a wide range of community interests. It currently administers more than 60 funds that support a wide range of initiatives across the PEI. Some of these areas have included; arts and heritage, environment, education, health, poverty reduction, community/social needs and urban and rural beautification. To decide if your project meets the criteria of CFPEI, please review the following guidelines.
The Community Foundation will award grants based on the following:
- Project(s) that primarily benefit the communities of Prince Edward Island.
- Organizations with a Registered Charitable Number with the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Projects with definite purposes and that will be covering a specific period of time.
- Scholarships and Bursaries will be awarded to educational institutes and not to individuals.
- The Foundation encourages the participation of others in funding projects and, on occasion, provides matching funds or challenge grants to boost increased response from other sources.
The Community Foundation will NOT award grants that support the following:
- Operating or renovation expenses.
- Operating or capital deficits.
- To establish or add to endowment funds.
- Annual fund drives for sustaining support.
- For religious or political activities.
- Organizations that are government funded or directed.
- Funding for specific medical or scientific research projects.
The Application Process:
- All applicants will be required to complete the application form and submit three copies along with all the additional documents noted in the application to The Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island.
- Applicants that receive a grant over $500 will be required to complete a final report upon completion of the project. The foundation reserves the right to review the project at any point in time.
